For School Students and Teachers

Children take centre stage in the exhibition. The first room shows 30 large videos of children at play from all over the world. The well-known artist Francis Alÿs recorded them in various countries, such as Afghanistan, Cuba, Belgium and the Congo.

In the second part of the exhibition there is a children's museum with artworks from the museum selected by two Cologne school classes - plus small activities and a free play zone.

We warmly welcome you and your school classes to visit the exhibition, preferably directly after the Easter holidays, when the exhibition will not be so crowded.

No prior knowledge is required for the exhibition, so no guided tours are offered.

Our program for school students is designed for all age levels and school types. Whether a class discussion, creative workshop, or several-hour museum program—the offerings demonstrate how up-to-date museums can be. How the objects tell exciting stories. How we can sharpen our perception. And how the knowledge of art and culture can help us in other ways today.

With modern educational methods we encourage school students to become acquainted with the richness of the world of art and culture. These encounters generate friends and curiosity, astonishment and sympathy, disconcertment and discussion. But they always provide stimulation for thinking about works of art and cultural references, and strengthen our value system and power of judgment.
