Lectures
We offer a variety of lectures and talks focused on our special exhibitions and the collection.
"KunstBewusst"
KunstBewusst is a series of talks organized by the Friends of the Wallraf-Richartz Museum and the Museum Ludwig association along with the Fritz Thyssen Foundation.
Good art leaves questions open-ended. You’ll find fascinating answers every week in this lecture series. Whether a classic lecture by a specialist on one of the current exhibitions, an artist talk, an overarching discussion on the theme of “museum and collection,” a performance on the museum’s roof terrace, or one of many other presentations—the series always offers surprising and highly informative contributions on current issues and topics. Previous guests have included Ivan Nagel, Gottfried Böhm, Friedrich Kittler, Willibald Sauerländer, Diedrich Diederichsen, Douglas Crimp, Thomas Meinecke, David Hockney, Katharina Sieverding, Neo Rauch, Hans Belting, Wim Crouwel, and Thomas Ruff.
"Art in Context"
With "Art in Context" the Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst am Museum Ludwig, the patron's club, invites you to a series of public events devoted to current trends in art. Experts and representatives of the international art scene discuss selected themes in art theory and practice. The lecture series highlights the heterogeneity of current artistic developments and sheds light on their different positions.
