Filmforum
Through a nationwide unique model of a forum that transcends the city boundaries, a collaborative of nine partners has operated the Museum Ludwig’s auditorium since 2006.
Joining forces in collaboration, these founding members of the Filmforum represent the entire cinematic spectrum, from film promoters and producers to filmmakers, educators, and enthusiasts. Among them are the Filmstiftung NRW, the SK Stiftung Kultur, the Westdeutsche Rundfunk (WDR), the ifs internationale filmschule köln, the film & fernseh produzentenverband nrw e.v., KölnMusik GmbH, as well as the independent film-scene coalition “KinoAktiv” and the Museum Ludwig/City of Cologne. Numerous thematic program series, film festivals and premieres, as well as lectures and discussions have found a venue at the Filmforum. The individual partners themselves are responsible for the content and financing of all the events. Together they have succeeded in establishing the Filmforum as a site for film history and contemporary film culture, filling a gap in the cinema landscape of Cologne.
