POP LAB
The POP LAB offers all kinds of things to discover about Pop Art!
The Museum Ludwig is famous for its fantastic Pop Art collection, which is the largest in Europe. This school of art deals with familiar things from everyday life: artists found their subjects in the media, advertising, consumerism, stars, glamor—as well as scandals and disasters.
Under the motto Do it yourself!, every visitor to the POP LAB, located next to the rooms for the Pop Art collection, is invited to actively engage with this style of art. Various stations offer the chance to experiment. Among other things, visitors can decorate a living room with magnets in the Pop Art style, take a quiz to test their knowledge of Pop Art, or add their own drawings of “crazy cupcakes” to a painting of a cake display counter. The spacious room with view of the cathedral also offers places to sit and a reading nook with a selection of literature for young visitors.
The POP LAB is a place for families and children in particular to experiment, relax, and play together. Since February 2015, this space has been located on the first floor of the museum, which spans the various focus areas of the collection. Previously it was devoted to the Expressionist collection under the theme Express yourself!
The POP LAB is made possible by a partnership with GAG Immobilien AG.
