This year the Mu­se­um Lud­wig is of­fer­ing a dig­i­tal pro­gram for the Eu­ro­pean Day of Conser­va­tion-Res­to­ra­tion on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 11. The videos and ra­dio in­ter­view on vari­ous as­pects of conser­va­tion and res­to­ra­tion will be avai­l­able on this web­site for one month.

"Humerus­frak­tur": de­tails of the res­to­ra­tion of Du­ane Han­son’s hy­per­re­al­is­tic sculp­ture "Wo­m­an with a Purse"

The video "Humerus­frak­tur" (in Ger­man) de­tails the res­to­ra­tion of Du­ane Han­son’s hy­per­re­al­is­tic sculp­ture "Wo­m­an with a Purse", which has suf­fered mul­ti­ple ac­ci­dents. The last was in 2003, when a group of stu­dents knocked the sculp­ture over, break­ing one of its arms. Aline Jahn de­vel­oped a con­cept for the res­to­ra­tion as her gra­d­u­a­tion th­e­sis at the Tech­nische Hoch­schule Köln, in which she pi­oneered the use of ad­h­e­sives.
